New Affiliate?

For some of the newer affiliates who are still struggling to get profitable, here’s some things to keep in mind when coming up with new ads or trying to optimize campaigns: Regardless of the niche, vertical, offer, etc., – tell them what’s in it for them, it’s in human’s DNA to be entirely self motivated / interested – don’t beat around the bush, don’t try to be cute, you’re probably trying way too hard – advertising is very simple, don’t over complicate it – tell them what they get, figure out what they desire and offer it to them. If your first guess of what they want is wrong, just keep testing till you find it. Every successful affiliate does massive amounts of testing, it’s going to require the same amount of effort from you too.

If you’re getting high CTR but low CVR, chances are your images are fine but your ad copy lacks any serious pull so you aren’t getting the right clicks, the ones that are motivated to sign up. If you’re doing display or have a lander, take advantage of all the space you have to work with… people think that short ad copy is best but there are a million scientific advertising tests that prove otherwise. Good ad copy sells – bad copy doesn’t – length has nothing to do with it, except that you can do more selling with more words, just make sure they’re the right words and not just you blabbing on endlessly because that won’t work either.

Pretend you’re that person – what do you really want? Keep in mind, you don’t need to appeal to everyone on the site, just a profitable majority. The more specific you go, the higher the clicks that you do get will convert, but you’ll get fewer clicks. The converse being that you go too broad and maybe get a bunch of curiosity clicks but the pre-sell / angle is too weak so the CR is going to suffer. Aim for something right in the middle and you’ll be in the money.

This is something that all affiliate marketers must realize in order to be successful. Step outside of your comfort zone, put yourself into another person’s shoes and then you will reach profits you’ve never seen. Keep in mind that you’re competing with your peers and few can actually step outside of themselves, break out of the norms and that is where the real ROI is.
